Confirmation

Confirmation candidates with Rt Rev Dr Richard Cheetham, Bishop of Kingston, at The Ascension Church, Balham. (Nov.2016)

Confirmation marks the point in our Christian journey when we affirm for ourselves the faith into which we were baptised as children. In confirmation God assures us of His love and empowers us by the Holy Spirit to do His will, as we answer Jesus’ call to discipleship and promise to follow Him for the rest of our lives. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the bishop.

Confirmation is also the step the Church asks us to take in order to become full members and before taking bread and wine in communion.

An annual service of Confirmation takes place in the Deanery towards the end of each year and those wishing to be confirmed will be required to attend a course of teaching about the Christian faith.

This year’s Confirmation Service will take place at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Wandsworth Common at 6.30pm on Sunday 19th November, 2017.

Anyone wishing to be confirmed this year will need to attend the Christianity Explored Course which begins on Wednesday 20th September at 8.00pm. If you are interested in being confirmed please speak to Rev Rob Powell.
