Furzedown Youth Centre (FYC)

The Furzedown Youth Centre (FYC) is a charity run by the Furzedown Churches.

It runs a Friday night youth club from 6pm to 8pm as well as trips and a yearly residential week for young people in school years 6-13 from the local communities of Furzedown, Tooting and Streatham.

It employs a part-time youth worker and session worker, and runs with the help of a team of volunteers from the Furzedown Churches and the local community. All staff and volunteers at FYC undergo a DBS security check.

The youth club meets in a purpose-built youth centre in the basement of St. James Community Hall on Welham Road. There is a small charge for attending.

Activities include table-tennis, snooker and table football; XBOX; organised group games; crafts; baking; and chilling out on the comfy sofas with drinks and snacks from the café bar.

Young people also have the opportunity to attend organised trips and residential activity weeks.

FYC is also open on Fridays from 3pm-5pm as an after-school drop-in to provide a safe space for young people in secondary school. This 'Hot Chocolate and Chill' session is free to all in years 7-13.
