Time to Think and Pray

Questions

  • How many people were listening to Jesus speak?

  • What food did the little boy give to Jesus?

  • What did Jesus do with the food?

  • How many baskets full of food were left after everyone had eaten?

Jesus was speaking to thousands and thousands of people! They had been listening to Jesus for quite a long time and everyone started to get hungry. But they didn't have any food for the crowd to eat! Thankfully, a young boy had a packed lunch of five small loaves of bread and three fish. He gave his packed lunch to Jesus, hoping that it would somehow help. And it did! Jesus took the bread and the fish, gave thanks to God for it and gave it to his disciples to share with the people. Jesus turned five small loaves of bread and three fish into lots and lots of food – plenty for the thousands of men, women and children that were there! When everyone had eaten until they were full, the disciples collected up 12 baskets of leftovers!

Jesus is so powerful! He can do anything! Nothing is impossible for him. If we love and follow him, he will always provide what we need. All we need to do is trust him to take care of us!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you that nothing is impossible for you! Thank you that if we love and follow you, you will always provide what we need. Please help us to be generous and self-less with our lives just like the little boy who gave up his packed lunch for Jesus. Amen.

This Week's Crafts: Loaves & Fishes Basket and Paper Pizza or Donuts

Loaves & Fishes Basket

You will need: Colouring pens or pencils, scissors, a glue stick and a copy of the printable template.

Colour in the basket, loaves of bread and fish. Cut the pieces out and stick the loaves and fish to the back of the basket, so that they are peeking out of the top. You could then also stick the basket on to a piece of card and cut the whole thing out again. This will create a smoother back for your basket.
