Mission Partners

Those we are currently supporting financially and through prayer are:

Alun and Debbie Burt and Family

Alun and Debbie are Crosslinks Mission Partners to Heideveld, South Africa, where Alun is Rector of St. Thomas' Church. His ministry includes teaching and discipling the congregation in regular services and Bible study groups. He and Debbie also
lead children’s and youth camps and help run a church pre-school for children from very deprived backgrounds. On top of this, Alun and Debbie work closely with Arise – a Christian organisation that promotes fostering and adoption. Many children in Cape Town cannot be cared for by their biological families and so often end up in children's homes. Debbie served as Director for Arise for several years but has now handed this over so that she can focus on ministry at home. She continues to be involved with adoption advocacy and support work at Arise, alongside looking after their four children.

It is a privilege for St James to be partners in mission with the Burts in Heideveld. However, it is very likely that their financial support from UK will not match their costs next year and there is therefore an opportunity for individuals to offer personal support if they wish. Please read their latest profile HERE. To support the Burts please complete a Partnership Formor contact the Church Office.

Furzedown Youth Centre (FYC)

Furzedown Youth Centre (FYC) is a charity run by the Furzedown Churches. It runs weekly youth club sessions, trips and activities for young people aged 11-16 from the local communities of Furzedown, Tooting and Streatham.

It employs a part-time youth outreach worker and runs with the help of a team of volunteers from the Furzedown Churches and the local community.

Please see the Youth Club (FYC) page for more details about the work of FYC.

St. James holds a gift day at the end of each year, and a proportion of the money raised goes to support two additional worthy causes chosen by the PCC, as well as to aid our own ministry here in Furzedown.
