Sunday Groups

Children are a very welcome and important part of the St. James family. Services on the first and third Sundays of the month are for all ages together with plenty of content that children will enjoy. Sunday groups are available during the main part of the service on 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays. Children begin in church with their parents and leave part-way through the service to join their own, age-appropriate teaching groups. All adults working with children in Sunday groups are required to have an enhanced DBS check.

A signed registration form is needed for children attending Sunday groups. Parents can collect a form from the information desk in the Church Centre after the service.

Preschool Children

Parents are very welcome to keep young children with them during the service. A children’s corner is available on the carpeted area at the back right of the church with quiet toys and books for little ones. Please use this area as needed. On weeks when older children go out to Sunday groups, a creche is also available in the Centre for preschool children who need to let off steam. Parents are welcome to stay with their children or leave them and return to church when the creche is supervised.

Bubbles

Bubbles is a fun group for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. It meets in the Hatch Room of the Church Centre. Children join the group part-way through the morning service to enjoy their own fun-based session which includes a Bible story and a craft. Parents bring their children to the group as directed after the opening worship, and return to church once they are settled. Parents of children with additional needs are very welcome to stay with them. Children are to be collected as directed just before communion begins.

Splash

Splash is a fun group for children in school years 3 - 6. The group meets in the youth centre next door to the church, where there is plenty of room to run around. Group leaders accompany the children to the group part-way through the morning service to enjoy a fun session including a Bible story, crafts and games. Children return to church with their leaders in time for communion at the end of the service.

The group meets in the youth centre next door to the church for a Bible discussion and games.  Group leaders accompany the young people to their group part-way through the morning service.
