In the last session, we learned that on the same day that Jesus rose from the dead, he appeared to some of his disciples and they were amazed to see that he was alive! There was one disciple named Thomas, who didn’t believe the other disciples when they told him they had seen Jesus. He still thought Jesus was dead! Let’s watch the video and see what happened:

Questions
-
When the disciples told Thomas they had seen Jesus, why didn’t he believe them?
-
Do you find it hard to believe something if you haven’t seen it with your own eyes?
-
What did Jesus show Thomas when he appeared to him?
-
Thomas only believed after he saw Jesus for himself. What kind of people did Jesus say will be blessed?
Thomas wasn’t with the other disciples when they saw Jesus after he rose from the dead. When they told him that they had seen Jesus, Thomas didn’t believe them! He said that unless he saw Jesus with his own eyes and touched the holes in his hands and side, he wouldn’t believe it. Have you ever had a hard time believing something that you didn’t see for yourself? This is exactly how Thomas felt. But later that day, Jesus appeared to Thomas and showed him the holes in his hands and side. Thomas was able to see with his own eyes that Jesus had risen from the dead and was alive again. He was amazed and praised Jesus saying, “My Lord and my God!”
Thomas only believed when he saw with his own eyes. But Jesus said that people who believe even when they haven’t seen Jesus will be blessed! Some people today don’t believe in Jesus. But Jesus doesn’t want us to doubt him, like Thomas did. He wants us to believe in him! If we believe in Jesus and follow him, one day we will go to live with him forever in heaven and it will be amazing!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you that you really did come back from the dead and that you are alive today! Thank you that we don’t have to see you with our own eyes to believe in you. Please help us to remember each day how amazing you are and to follow and love you always. Amen.

This Week's Crafts: Thomas Craft and Spinning Appearing Jesus
Thomas Craft
You will need: Scissors, double-sided tape, colouring pens or pencils and a copy of the printable template.
Print the template and cut out all three parts, including the hole on Jesus’ hand. Use glue or double-sided tape to stick the hands over the lines for the arms. Make sure Jesus’ hand is stuck down first and then Thomas’ hand on top. Colour in the words. If you would like to hang your picture, punch two holes in the top of the craft and thread some string through.

Spinning Appearing Jesus
You will need: Scissors, a glue stick, a skewer or straw, colouring pens and a copy of the printable template (at the very bottom of the link page).
Cut out one set of the two pictures. Colour them in and stick them back to back with a skewer or straw in between. Now, when you hold the skewer/straw and rub your hands together quickly, the pictures will spin and merge together to show Jesus appearing to his disciples!
